With our chain hopper the bale lays in the hopper and not on the ground. Cattle reach through the openings and have to consume the hay that is in the chain hopper. The chain prevents the cattle from pulling large chunks of hay out onto the ground. The loose hay that does fall falls into the bottom of the feeder to be consumed later.

Patent Pending Hay Hopper Horse Feeder Round horse hay feeder with hopper to help save you money! The bale drops in from the top and sits in the chain hopper. Horses eat the hay that sits in the chain hopper. The chain hopper eliminates large chunks of hay being pulled out. Instead the horse can only pull small pieces of hay out and the loose hay falls into the bottom and can be eaten later. The money you save on hay will pay for the feeder. The chain hopper makes it difficult for the sheep to pull large chunks of hay out. This means they have to eat the hay that is between the chains which reduces hay waste compared to many other types of feeders.
